About Transdanubia
Transdanubia is a region in Hungary, located west of the Danube River. Spanning 38,000 km2, it comprises almost half of the entire territory of Hungary. Known for its diverse landscapes ranging from rolling hills to fertile plains. Rich in history and tradition, it is home to charming towns, vineyards, and historic sites. Its population is around 2.9 million people.
The region is especially facing climate change impacts from increasing droughts and challenges in water management. This also has an impact on agriculture, food security and soil degradation. Furthermore, as a result of industrial activity in the region, industry related pollution is significant, air pollution due to production and transportation, and industrial waste.
